Get rid of that cold FAST!

Oh my gosh! Since I woke up yesterday I have been thinking about writing this after my baby woke up. So Tuesday started off pretty crappy. The little one I watch was not feeling to good and both my other kids have had stuffy noses and a slight cough for a few days. Me hoping for the best that it is just allergies because everything is drying out and not to add I feel like I always know when my kids are sick because they get the “look” I can just see it in their eyes. But neither of them had it, so I thought until I noticed my sweet baby boy 15 months was extra cranky following me around so I picked him up and saw the look and gave him a hug and felt him extremely warm. I was worried he cried and cried and was so cranky nothing would calm him down when normal snuggle’s with Mom always calms him. I took his temperature, sure enough 101.9. I hate when my babies are sick. I absolutely hate it and thanks to giving birth to them I developed a horrible anxiety and let me tell you this anxiety gets the better of me every time either of my boys are sick. I hate medicine! Especially when I have to give it to my boys. So I have searched and searched for the best natural way in almost everything and sure enough something worked. I can’t believe it worked! I am beyond happy and ecstatic to announce that it worked! That my baby boy slept all night without a peep when I was fully prepared to be waking up all night dealing with a sick baby. And to my surprise he woke up the next morning happy and fever free. Not to mention my other little man who just had a cough and a few sneezes woke up not coughing and happy as well. No sniffles, no cough, nothing! Okay, okay so get to it already. Here is the secret. Epsom Salt and Baking Soda! That is right. You spend what a couple of dollars on this stuff and it works! Whoever doesn’t know this secret needs to. So let me tell you how it works. If you don’t know already. Epsom salt is used as a detox. So many people already know this but I never thought of it as a way to detox a cold. But if you think about it the Epsom salt is taking out all toxins in your body so why wouldn’t it help with a cold virus? It is basically the magnesium sulfate in the Epsom salt that helps eliminate all the toxins in your body including all the toxins from the chemicals that enter our body thru cleaning supplies, the air, lotions, and food etc. A lot of people think it is normal to put lotion and all those chemicals into our body and especially the food we eat. Our whole diet is all chemicals even those fruits and veggies you eat. Everything has them. It is no wonder we are dying off! Anyways back to the Epsom Salt it is a good way to detox. The baking soda is a good way to help jump-start the elimination of toxins and clean the water. My hubby always told me this and I don’t know why I never listened. But from now on my kids and myself will most likely be taking these baths once a week. After what I saw last night I am amazed. So what do you do you ask. Here it is:

Kids Detox Bath: 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt, 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda

Adult Detox Bath: 1 cup of Epsom Salt, 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda

Instructions:

Fill the bathtub half way with warm water (a little cooler if your little ones have a fever but not cold so they don’t shiver) Place the 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt and 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda in the water and stir around with your hand until it is dissolved. Take a bath for at least 20-30 minutes. The body will soon eliminate the toxins and absorb the minerals from the Epsom Salt. I read Magnesium is a laxative and if you have kids like mine make sure they don’t drink the water. (Although I did my best to stop them some water got in their mouth and it did not effect them at all) After about 20 minutes or so I drained the water filled it back up and gave them a bath like normal basically to rinse them off. Towel dry as normal.

That is it, simple enough. I read also this bath can make you thirsty. My baby who was sick was not too interested in anything to drink afterwards not even his milk but my oldest was. But again he always wants water so to say this is too I can’t for sure say. But after my sick little guy couldn’t keep his eyes open much longer he fell asleep with me holding him which is not normal. I took his temperature and before the bath was 101.5 after 99.9 I did not give him any medicine and let him fall asleep with the thought he would for sure wake up with a higher fever and medicine would be needed. I was very wrong he slept for 12 hours straight not a peep. Not even a normal night he doesn’t even sleep like this let alone a sick night. I checked on him a few times and he was just sleeping soundly. He woke up happy to see me and no fever.

If you question it try it. I swear by this! I will always be doing this. I was absolutely amazed. So I hope you all enjoy this post.

I do have a video I am working on for a good Halloween treat! I am so excited to be doing that and cannot wait to share. Also another post on little treat bags/buckets I am giving the kids.

Have a blessed day. Stay healthy.

Sorry they weren’t feeling well! It always is hard when the kids are sick:( Another great thing I like to add to my son’s detox bath when he isn’t feeling well is a drop of an essential oil 🙂 The oil I use depends on what specific symptom he is struggling with. Thanks again for the post!

I heard that too. I have never messed with essential oils and they are a bit expensive. One day I will have to try it. But until then this seemed to work great with very little spent. =)
